Frequently asked questions
What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is system of healing based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles which is known to have been in development for thousands of years. It involves inserting thin, sterile needles into the skin and soft tissue to stimulate the body's natural healing abilities. There are specific points on the body where the needles may be placed, each point having its own unique therapeutic effect on the body. Acupuncture has been commonly used throughout the world to treat various health conditions, now, as more scientific research is published, acupuncture is becoming more widely accepted in the UK.
How much does it cost?
The initial consultation is £65, this includes thorough consultation forms emailed over prior to a video consultation, a 30 min consultation via video to go through the forms, discuss our treatment goals and how we are going to get there. Following this there will be your first acupuncture session with brief in person consultation when you arrive.
What should I wear?
It's best to wear comfortable clothing to your appointment. For acupuncture treatments around the hip or gluteal area you may be asked to disrobe. In which case I will provide you with a sheet for draping to maintain your privacy and will give you time in private to be able get comfortable.
How many sessions will I need?
The amount of treatments can vary from patient to patient depending on the condition(s) being treated. We always say plan for 12 treatments, if it takes less then great, our goal is always to give patients the best results in as few sessions as possible but as many as necessary for a long term solution.
