What is fertility acupuncture, and how does it work?Fertility acupuncture brings the principles of traditional Chinese medicine into a personalised approach to supporting you while trying to conceive, whether naturally or alongside IVF or IUI.The traditional Chinese medicine perspectiveIn traditional Chinese medicine, health is understood through the balanced movement of Qi, often described as vital energy, and blood throughout the body. Fertility acupuncture traditionally aims to support this balance, with particular attention to the menstrual cycle and patterns identified through your symptoms and health history. These are traditional concepts rather than established medical explanations.The modern scientific perspectiveAcupuncture stimulates sensory nerves, influencing the nervous system and the release of natural chemicals such as endorphins. Researchers are also exploring possible effects on stress responses, blood flow and reproductive hormone signalling. These are areas of investigation, rather than proven explanations for improved fertility.What does this mean for your appointments?At Verve, I consider your whole story, including your cycle, symptoms, sleep, emotional wellbeing and treatment timetable. I use this information to tailor your appointments, selecting acupuncture points within the traditional framework and adapting your care as your circumstances change.The aim is to offer a calming, supportive space where you feel listened to and cared for throughout your fertility journey. Some people find acupuncture deeply relaxing and value this regular opportunity to pause and reconnect with themselves.
Your first appointment gives us time to talk through what has brought you to the clinic, your health history and what you would like support with.If you are trying to conceive, we can also discuss your fertility journey and any treatment you are having or preparing for. We will agree on a plan together, and I will explain what acupuncture involves before starting, so you have plenty of opportunity to ask questions.Your initial appointment includes your first acupuncture session and medical grade red light therapy. Following your first session you will receive consultation forms, fill these out when you can and we'll clarify anything on your second appointment, if you have opted into additional fertility support your fertility plan will be sent after this appointment.
Acupuncture uses very fine needles. You may feel a brief prick as a needle is inserted, followed by a mild ache, tingling or a feeling of heaviness. Most people feel very little.If anything feels uncomfortable, tell me straight away so I can adjust or remove the needle. If you are nervous about needles, please let me know beforehand so we can talk through your concerns and take things at your pace.The clinic is design with a spa like feel so relaxation is easier than you think.
Fertility Acupuncture - Your initial consultation and 1st acupuncture treatment is £85. During this consultation we will go through your health history, cycles, any medical diagnosis, discuss our treatment goals, and answer any questions.This cost also includes your first acupuncture session which is 55mins including a brief in person consultation when you arrive. Subsequent acupuncture sessions are £55 and include additional support, blood test analysis and more. I am a fertility support trained acupuncturist, I have studied in detail within this area and have also had IVF myself. Acu Facials are £110 per session, sessions last 1 hr. This includes, acupuncture, gua sha, facial cupping and facial massage. The needles, equipment and facial oils for this are specialist and not the same as normal acupuncture needles. This is only available to book between the hours of 7am - 3pm. Acupuncture for Migraines are £55 per session, this will also require an initial consultation to ensure we have a detailed history to treat your condition effectively.
Yes, your partner is very welcome. Fertility can involve both partners, and each person deserves space to discuss their health, questions and support needs.As a thank you for choosing Verve, I offer partners of existing clients an initial consultation for £55 instead of the usual £85.Please select Initial Consultation when booking. Although the booking system displays £85, your partner will only be charged £55. Just let me know who their partner is so I can apply the reduced rate.
There is no set number of sessions, as everyone’s circumstances and reasons for coming are different. I approach acupuncture as ongoing support rather than a one-off appointment. Much like making time for regular exercise, consistency creates space for a routine and regular reviews of how you are feeling.My preferred schedule is weekly, where practical, so appointments can take place across the different phases of your menstrual cycle and stages of fertility treatment. If weekly visits are difficult, I generally suggest fortnightly appointments. We will agree on a schedule that feels manageable for your time and budget.If you are preparing for fertility treatment, I ideally like to begin around three months beforehand. This gives us time to explore your history, discuss your concerns and establish a support plan. If you have ongoing symptoms or a more complex history, we may discuss support over a longer period alongside any medical care you need.You are still welcome if treatment is starting sooner. There is no required course of acupuncture, and you do not need to delay fertility treatment to attend.
Yes. You can book acupuncture without purchasing a fertility programme, results review or additional support package. Or simply without all of the additional advice, sometime overwhelm is real, sometimes we have enough advice elsewhere. We will still discuss your health history and reasons for attending so I can assess which acupuncture points are best for you.
Yes. Medical-grade red light therapy is included in your acupuncture appointment at no extra cost, where suitable.Also known as photobiomodulation, it uses specific wavelengths of light and has been studied for potential benefits including tissue repair, reduced inflammation and relief from some types of pain. Benefits depend on the condition being treated, the device and the treatment settings.
Please give at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or rearrange your appointment.Appointments cancelled between 24 and 48 hours before the start time incur a charge of 50% of the appointment fee. Cancellations within 24 hours incur the full appointment fee.I understand that during active fertility treatment, scan results, clinic appointments and procedure dates can change at short notice. I accommodate appointment changes around your treatment wherever possible. Please contact me as soon as your plans change so we can discuss rearranging your appointment.
